Landscape Watercolor Painting
Mykonos is a picture of Greece’s aesthetic: whitewashed houses offset by primary blues and flashes of colorful bougainvillea’s, narrow streets adorned with laundry hanging on ropes, and centuries-old coastal windmills make it an ideal place to bring out the watercolors! A Greek legend has it that “God divided soil on the earth through a sieve and used the stones that had been left over to construct Greece”. Greece is loaded with history and wonders of architecture. On my last visit there, I was walking past a brick wall in Mykonos and looked up to witness large hands of vivid windmills rhythmically moving to the wind. I simply stood there staring in awe. It was an instant inspiration! Greece is indeed one of mankind’s greatest wonders and god’s greatest art. Having taken over a hundred mental pictures while I was there, the windmill had to be my favorite. Through the splashes of neutral watercolors, I have recreated that beautiful sight in the language that I am most fluent in, art! I have thrown in brown, yellow, orange, and white with just a splash of blue undertones and put together a piece portraying the predominant colors of the beautiful land of Greece! This artistic artwork is beautifully showcased in our online art gallery.
