Roses Triptych Artwork
This burned paper art original is playful, minimal, colorless and colorful. The layered hand torn/ hand cut sheets are burned and separated by air, allows shadows to form from the edges casting delicate lines onto the next. I strive to reach a simple, honest statement and to have the confidence to say less is more.
This extremely unique form of art explores the process of what happens when fire meets paper. Each piece is completely unique and created with multiple layers of acid free high-density paper cut/torn by hand and then burned to give a range of effects from delicate thin lines to beautiful dark edges. To create each finished artwork I spend hours designing, cutting, folding, burning and glueing paper, in order to achieve the required depth and movement. I approach the process with a mixture of curiosity and precision. Some pieces are created intuitively, while others are pre designed, with each element drawn individually and recreated in consecutive layers.
