Spiritual Acrylic Painting
Lord Shiva is perhaps the most well-known deity with its roots in Indian mythology, and rightly so. Nothing about Him is conventional; appearance, behavior, likes, and any other parameter one can think of, He is unusual. And this is exactly what sets Him apart from his peers. In the trinity of Hindu Gods, He is known to be the Destroyer, yet you will rarely come across any of His image wherein He is not in a tranquil state. In fact, being tranquil seems to be His status-quo, an eternal one at that. Back in India, pilgrimage is still in vogue, having evolved with time to appeal to younger audiences as well in recent times. Particularly, pilgrims sought out Shiva temples which are usually located high atop mountains like Kedarnath. Some of His temples though are closer to the seas, quite surprisingly, because He was always thought to be meditating in the Himalayas. Among such rare ones is the divinely beautiful temple at Gokarna, closer to Goa in India. The temple features a gigantic statue of Lord Shiva in deep meditation with the Arabian sea for background, extending a pleasant touch of calm. This place attracts a younger crowd compared to all other pilgrim spots of Lord Shiva, and you need to visit it to understand why. I have pleasant memories of visiting this very place during my late teens and this artwork is a humble attempt to relive that trip and give birth to a memoir.
