Indian Mixed Media Painting
Originating from the Mithila region of Bihar and Nepal, the oldest reference of this painting art is found in the Ramayana, where King Janaka, Sita’s father asks painters to create Madhubani paintings for his daughter’s wedding. Bulging fish-like eyes, pointed noses, and geometric patterns are some of its characteristics.
The themes of these paintings usually include natural elements like fish, parrot, elephant, turtle, sun, moon, bamboo tree, and lotus. Madhubani art has five distinctive styles: Bharni, Katchni, Tantrik, Godna, and Khobar. This one is the Bharni style of Madhubani where Radha Krishna’s love is depicted with the help of bright and radiant colors.
