Elephant painting
You know…..they say an elephant never forgets.
What they don’t tell you is, you never forget an elephant. – Bill Murray
When I started with this subject, I had the same conventional elephant in mind which I had seen in Masai. But the moment I sat down to paint, I didn’t feel like picking up the grey or brown pastel. Who said the elephant or life must be only white black or grey…? That’s when I thought I’m going to put in some color in my jumbo. As my elephant was developing I was flown back to the thrilling safari of Masai Mara where I had the privilege of seeing these creatures in their own home, in their true form….free… wild… independent… happy!! An experience with these gentle giants is bound to take you to a happy place every time you reminisce. The base of the painting is pastel paper. It’s done entirely in oil pastels and pastel pencils.
