Abstract Oil Painting
“Low tide” evokes the atmosphere and landscapes characteristic of the moment when the sea withdraws, leaving the rocks bare. The dominant colours of blue, green and brown used in this work recall precisely those rocks exposed at low tide, often with their share of seaweed. The rich texture of the paint, achieved through the use of oil working and reworking techniques, reinforces the evocation of nature. It transports us to a rocky coastline that, although seemingly simple at first glance, turns out to be complex and mysterious. The superimposed layers of oil create effects of depth and play of light, suggesting the changing shades and dark and obscure corners of these rocks, and creating a mysterious and intriguing atmosphere.
