Landscape Oil Painting
The size of the painting 100cm x 150cm which is big enough to make one feel as if you are wandering through a dream. And yes, it can cover a whole wall.
I have used oil and sand to capture the artsessence of this beautiful city. The single lamp that I have painted is providing light to the whole painting, which is creating the perfect effect of dark and light I wanted to capture. The walls are faded to give an ancient effect. The green plant growing on the left shows life is very much there…its just the night that has brought the street to a quiet and calm state. The paints used are mostly dark and the sand has given the perfect texture and 3d effect I wanted to achieve for an old and dark street. There’s an open window on the right for the cool air to come through during this summer night. The streets are like a maze. Once u look at it, you just imagine walking and walking through.
Morocco is an enigmatic country with overlapping histories, many of which can be found on the streets of Morocco. My idea of painting a quiet street at night was to show how the same city that buzzes with life embraces the viewer at night. For me, its more like a dream and that’s what I want the viewer to look at, like another world beyond the walls of the city. It seems it’s a never ending journey and you just keep exploring and going deeper into this adventure. The blending of different cultures and architecture is quite evident on the streets whether its Spanish, French or Arab. I have never been to Morocco but its this beauty that makes me put it on top of my bucket list.
