Hands Oil Painting
Living in the past and obsessing over what is set in stone makes us forget the strength of our hands. The keepers of our lifelines, like roots, they keep us connected. With them, we plant and care for the seeds our grandchildren may harvest. This painting started as an oil study of hands. They are known to be one of the most complicated body parts to paint. As I started painting them in different positions, with all their details, lights and shadows, I started loving the composition, and also their importance came to me. How much we use them on a daily basis to salute, to draw, to write, to open, to close, to prepare, to show love, to create… The background was blue from the beginning but I started adding different shades and sparkles of light, that made me think of heaven, of the universe. And as a whole this painting reminds me of how God gave us hands to create a future and ways of understanding the universe.
