Abstract Acrylic Painting
This gestural painting tries to capture the beauty of flowers in motion. ‘Not Just Flowers’ suggests how this painting is indicative yet abstract if we try to detach our minds from the worldly connotations of nature, beauty, flora and fauna. The artist uses shades of pink and violet with some contrasting whites and hints of orange and green inspired by the hues of spring. Acrylic paints have been applied using palette knives and plastic paint spreaders along with brushes and fingers to create layers of texture on a base of flat blues reminiscent of the sky. There are lots of smears, rough edges, spontaneous strokes and shapes composed intuitively that feel raw and expressive. Hence the painting is not just a depiction of blooming flowers but a whimsical curation of colors and strokes that seem to be exploding on canvas. The artist is trying to set herself free by letting go of her thoughts and emotions bottled up since a long time, giving them alluring shades and embracing the beauty in chaos. She wants her viewers to enjoy the painting from afar but also delve closely into the intricate details that are full of abstract shapes, scribbles and gestural marks.
