Indian Man Acrylic Painting
The subject of this striking sketch is a weather-worn gentleman who was the carer of a Shiva temple nestled in the folds of the Khajjiar mountain range in the state of Himachal Pradesh in India. Not only did he look after the temple, but also looked after the devotees who trekked up the hill for a visit.
He continuously brewed sweet and milky ‘masala chai’ and offered this much-needed reviver to tired devotees. The artist has used an achromatic colour scheme to reflect his calm, gentle demeanour and added a touch of sunshine yellow to his cap to radiate his inner peace as he calmly went about doing his work.
The artist has skilfully manoeuvred black and white fluid paint with a wooden coffee stirrer to create the features, facial wrinkles, stubble and other details seen in the painting. It is indeed a unique sketch.
